About
us
| What's so special about us? |
| The
Ludo Press has been in Wandsworth ever since the 1920s and derives
its name from the fact that many of its early customers were West
End theatre companies and owners for whom Ludo printed huge numbers
of play bills, posters and programmes; theatre = play = game = Ludo
— a somewhat tenuous connection, but the name stuck. Since
those days we’ve moved all of half a mile down the road towards
Wimbledon but a lot further in terms of technology, equipment and
the ability to meet our customers’ ever changing needs. However,
our success is still based on the same attention to detail and the
same quick responses which served us so well when Gielgud or Olivier
fell ill and hours before a performance the understudy’s name
had to be catapulted into print.

| What makes
us different? |
| Believe it or not,
what makes us different from most other printers is that we make
sure we understand your business. Whether you're trying to teach
Class 5B long division, perform a triple valve heart bypass, or
monitor changes to the London bus timetable, it's our job to communicate
your message to the world in the clearest and simplest way possible.
And if we don't understand what you're on about there's a fair chance
nobody else will either. |
| One of our most valuable
communications aids is our knowledge of (and respect for) the English
language in its written form. We believe it's part of our job to
check for spelling errors, round up misplaced apostrophes and cajole
some sense out of the most convoluted copy. In fact, we'll do anything
we can to ensure your message is conveyed with all the clarity and
meaning you intend. |
| Our environment |
| The
River Wandle flows past our back door and is teeming with life,
even if it eludes our local fishermen. Kingfishers and cormorants
are not uncommon sights and, on both a local and more global level,
we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously. It is
our standard practice to recycle all plates and paper waste and
to dispose of used chemicals responsibly. Where possible, our paper
stocks are sourced from sustainable planting and we are always keen
both to advise and seek advice on recycled and environmentally friendly
materials. |
| "We have had
nothing but satisfaction from The Ludo Press in the seven years
I have been editor and they have always been extremely accommodating
and a delight to work with." |
